City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

Title: City of Fallen Angels
Author: Cassandra Clare
Rating: 5
Cover rating: 4
Description: City of Fallen Angels takes place two months after the events of City of Glass. In it, a mysterious someone’s killing the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and displaying their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, leaving tensions running high in the city and disrupting Clary’s plan to lead as normal a life as she can — training to be a Shadowhunter, and pursuing her relationship with Jace. As Jace and Clary delve into the issue of the murdered Shadowhunters, they discover a mystery that has deeply personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen their relationship, or rip it apart forever.
Meanwhile, internecine warfare among vampires is tearing the Downworld community apart, and only Simon — the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side — can decide the outcome; too bad he wants nothing to do with Downworld politics. Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

I really think I could sum up this review in one sentence:

Jace is perfect.

But, I will expand...a bit.

I'm not a big fan of spoiler reviews and I really don't want to give anything away. So, here goes.

Jace Wayland-Herondale-Lightwood is perfect. I love him, he's amazing in every way. He makes me laugh and smile pretty much every time he is mentioned. Beyond him, I think this is my favorite novel in the Mortal Instruments series. It is beautiful written and crafted. I was hooked throughout the novel. When I was forced to put it down I couldn't stop thinking about it. I wanted to go back and continue with the characters. I also gained a huge amount of respect for Simon in this novel. I liked him a lot more than I have in the previous.

  1. Great review. I am your newest follower :) You can find me at http://bookaddictionsbychristina.blogspot.com , I love Cassie and all of her books! I have CoFA but I am almost done with Enclave so I am going to finish it before I start on CoFA. I can not wait to sink in to this book! After reading this I am melting for Jace already :D

  2. Hi Miranda!

Have to agree with you on most everything. Once I got going into the story, this quickly became my fave in the series as well. It has a totally different feel and personality than the others, so much more somber. Also, Jace is probably the second hottest YA character ever. He breaks my heart on every page. Just posted my review today as well, oddly enough. Good to find another reader/writer! :)

P.S. - Does it irk you that you can see Clary's face on this cover? It irks me... But I love the ring glowing!

  3. I do love the book and loved you review, but i would actually like to say something else, a suggestion on how to further improve your blog. I also love to read books but it's quite hard to find the time to read all of your posts and my suggestion is that you make a page on this blog where you write which books you have reviewed, i think it would be easier also then to suggest books for you to read when i as a reader immediately can see whether you have already done a review on it or not.
Hope to read more from you soon :)

  4. Christina: I know what you mean about already melting for Jace. Oh, dear that boy makes me blush! Is Enclave any good? I'll have to see if you review it. Thanks for the follow! :) I'll be a follower to you as well.

Tara- I have a strong urge to call you Mrs. Hall. Tara Hall was the name of my government teacher in high school. I thought you were her until I read your comment! I'll check out your review! Who do you consider the first hottest boy in YA fiction? And, YES, it irks me that I can see Clary's face. That's why I gave the cover a 4. It's beautiful, but ugh, it doesn't match and that bugs me.

Issa- Thanks for your suggestion! I really appreciate it. And will try my hardest to get that up and running soon!

  5. Another great book by Cassandra Clare! I could not put this book down! The action literally goes to the very last pages! I loved reading about Jace and Clary since they were finally together but I do not think there was enough of them or Isabell and Simon or Magnus and Alec. But there was plenty of classic Jace lines. He always cracks me up!
